Your homeowner’s insurance policy probably covers roof damage or replacement, but it may also cover property damage due to hail, wind, or natural disasters. Chris Duty can help you get the most out of your insurance claim!
First: Call Chris for a Roof Damage Inspection
If your roof and other property need an inspection after a wind or hail storm, call Chris at 682-337-1849 before you file a claim. Chris can inspect your roof and let you know if he sees damage that should be covered by your homeowner’s policy.
One client called us, very frustrated that his insurance claim did not reflect the proper size of his garage door. He kept measuring the door and sending the information to the insurance company, to no avail. These are exactly the types of discrepancies Chris will handle for you. No need for frustration–just call Chris!
Now, this is very important: If you file a claim and it is denied, it still counts on your insurance as a claim! This could raise your insurance rate and interfere with changing insurance providers. So, to save yourself from being “dinged” with an insurance claim, FIRST CALL CHRIS.
If your roof damage needs temporary tarping, if a tree needs to be cut down so that you can access your garage and entries, or if water is entering your home through a hole in the roof, Chris can help. He may call on his subcontractors or direct you to your insurance agent. In some cases, Chris can tarp your roof during his initial inspection.
Second: Call Your Insurance Agent
Hopefully, you have an insurance agent; if not, go to your nearest insurance company’s office and ask to be transferred to that agent’s client list. Having an agent to call when damage occurs, or when you have questions about coverage, is not only wise, but it’s also more convenient than calling an 800 number and waiting on hold.
Your agent can file a claim and send an insurance adjuster to assess your property damage. Chris will be happy to meet you and the adjuster if you let him know about the appointment. He can point out damage that he previously identified–damage the adjuster may miss.
Third: Send Chris Your Insurance Claim Paperwork
A client told us that his friend suggested blacking out all the numbers on the insurance paperwork prior to sending it to the contractor. This is horrible advice and a waste of your time. Chris has to see the numbers to determine whether you’re getting the coverage you’ve purchased. He will determine whether the coverage adequately compensates for the work required to bring your property back to its pre-storm, pre-claim state.
Oftentimes, claim paperwork does not reflect correct information about the roof damage, roof penetrations, and other damaged property. If your claim is accepted by your insurance company, Chris and our insurance experts will go line by line through the paperwork to make sure you get all the compensation due to you.

Fourth: Chris and the ROI Insurance Experts Re-submit
Our insurance experts will communicate with you, explaining how to respond to your insurance agent or company.
This is extremely important: In Texas, it is a felony for a roofing contractor to “cover the deductible.” You will be required to pay your deductible, which is likely 1-3% of your home’s value, as stated in your policy.
Important: If you choose Chris as your roofing contractor, you will only pay your deductible, regardless of the back-and-forth with the insurance agency regarding your claim. The only instance you will pay more is if you want upgrades. An upgrade can be a higher-quality shingle or updating tile, cabinets, and countertops while repairing a room damaged by a roof leak. You will know and sign off on any optional additions to the initial claim.
Fifth: ROI Repairs or Replaces All Damaged Property for You
Chris will schedule the dates that his crew can be at your home to repair roof damage or replace your roof, as well as gutters, soffits, fences, screens, windows, and siding, and to repaint the home if included in your claim. Issues like hail dings on bricks, fencing, outdoor furniture, pool equipment, and other property damage may not need replacement or repair. You can opt not to repair these items, but your insurance company will not allow you to make another claim on that specific property, even if future damage occurs. You can keep the funds or apply them to upgrades and other projects.
Sixth: Payments & Supplementals
You will receive a partial payment from your insurance company when work begins. This and future compensation will be due to ROI. Again, you will need to pay your deductible. We have financing options to break up the deductible into affordable monthly payments.
After all of the work is completed, you’ll receive a final check and then a depreciation check. These also will go toward what you owe ROI.
Supplementals are additional damages filed with your insurance company. This may happen if, for instance, there’s evidence of water damage inside your home, directly related to the roof damage in your claim. Another example is if a roof shingle is discontinued by the manufacturer; your insurance will pay for an equivalent substitution if you inform them of the issue.
Here’s one last example: Insurance pays to paint part of your home’s siding due to damage noted in your claim, but the new paint cannot be matched to the existing, weathered paint. In this case, the insurance company needs to be informed of the problem because the entire home may need repainting, all due to damage in one area.
Seventh: The Final Walk-Through Inspection
After work is completed, Chris will walk with you through your property during the final inspection. He will need attic access to assess the roof from inside. If any of the ROI work needs touch-ups or completion, he will make certain the items are immediately addressed.
